Surfing the Internet and Time Management

Yesterday was an unforgettable day. Do you know why? Because we surprisingly found the second floor and the third floor in Eton Hall can surf the Internet. It terminated the first floor’s privilege of surfing the Internet (actually some people were green with envy because of the first floor’s privilege). I knew nothing about it at first until one of my friends run to my room to tell us the exciting news. I tried to connect the net with gratitude and it really worked. It was incredible because we cannot surf the Internet for almost two months.

After I managed to connect the Internet, a lot of things came. First I used QQ and MSN to tell others the big news. Then it was www.xiaonei.com, a controversial communication tool. After that I checked my e-mail and searched some useful sources. When I back to my study, it was 10:30 pm already. Suddenly, I felt there is something wrong with my time management. Poor time management is lethal for one’s study. So after that crazy night, I felt guilty and frightened. "If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans." - Woody Allen. We can see the importance of time management from Woody Allen’s words. Internet is a very attractive thing which can let a person benefit a lot and it can also let people suffer because of the over-reliant. Actually we had a class debate on this topic and through the debate we can see this issue is really highly controversial. Here are some tips for time management which I found on the Internet.

1. Personal time management skills
The six areas that personal time management seeks to improve in anyone's life are physical, intellectual, social, career, emotional and spiritual.
• The physical aspect involves having a healthy body with less stress and fatigue.
• The intellectual aspect involves learning and other mental growth activities.
• The social aspect involves developing personal or intimate relations and being an active contributor to society.
• The career aspect involves school and work.
• The emotional aspect involves appropriate feelings and desires and manifesting them.
• The spiritual aspect involves a personal quest for meaning.

2. The core skills of an effective time management plan
1. Learning to say "No".
You probably see this advice often. Heed it even if it involves saying the word to family or friends.
2. Pat yourself on the back or just reward yourself in any manner for an effective time management result.
3. Try to get the cooperation from people around you who are actually benefiting from your efforts of time management.
4. Don't procrastinate. Attend to necessary things immediately.
5. Have a positive attitude and set yourself up for success. But be realistic in your approach in achieving your goals.
6. Keep a record or journal of all your activities. This will help you get things in their proper perspective.

In my opinion, these are only some basic rules and methods. Although we can surf the Internet in our own rooms, time management is still important and we had better not waste too much time on it. Do you want to know more about time management? Google it!

  1. Finally you have wireless connection on the second and third floor? Good news indeed! I have heard so many of you grumble about it I guess someone heard you, LOL.

Yes, time management is important. When you are online, time really passes by quickly, so it is good to limit the use of the computer.

  3. Every day surfing the Internet is our first task. And every day we do the same things-surfing, sleeping and killing time boringly. Our time goes by from our daily life. Something must be done to deal with our time management.

  4. So being able to surf the Internet on the 2nd and 3rd floor at Eton Hall is both a good thing and a bad thing, isn't it? Good because you can easily go online, but bad if you don't manage your time well. Still, it's really more of a good thing because time management is up to you to control, but if there was no Internet connection, there would have been nothing you could ahve done about it. So be grateful and set your own limits! Have you been successful so far?
