A touching book , One Child

Just a few minutes ago , I finished the book , One Child , with tears in my eyes . Finally , they ran over my cheek , which I couldn’t help .

It is a story written by a teacher named Torey about one child in her class , Sheila.

When Torey first took charge of the class , it was a terrible one , which nobody liked to be involved in , because all the eight students in the class had certain problem , some handicapped , some too violent to be accepted by regular schools , etc. Other teachers called it garbage class as well as crazy class . But with Torey’s and her assistant Anton’s care and patience , the eight children were turning to normal . However , Sheila who seemed the toughest child in the world ran into their life at that time . She was a 6-year-old girl but just burnt her neighbours’ 3-year-old boy . So according to the original plan , she should be sent to the hospital , which was still under construction . With no better solution , she was sent to Torey’s class . At first , she was too naughty . She refused to talking to anyone . She poked the fish’s eyes out with pencils . She stank all the time with urine on her clothes . Whereas , Torey’s love changed all of these and turned Sheila into a pretty girl . She also found that Sheila was a talented girl with IQ above 180 . She taught Sheila with all her heart and gradually build a pure friendship with Sheila . Even when the hospital was open , she won the lawsuit to keep Sheila in her class . Finally , the separate moment came , when the special class was to be cancelled by the government , when Torey was going to continue her study and when Sheila was planned to attend a regular school . They were too involved with each other that it seemed too difficult to say goodbye . They already tamed each other and couldn’t afford separation , especially for Sheila , who was led to paradise from hell by Torey . She said she would be a bad girl again so that she would stay in Torey’s class .But Torey said no : it wouldn’t solve the problem and since we tamed each other , you should be responsible for me . At last , Sheila promised to be a good girl , for Torey , for all the unconditional love from a non-consanguineous teacher .

In fact , I was deeply moved by the pure love between Torey and Sheila . Though we are considered normal , we lack that kind of continous sincereness , care and love to others in our life. It is because we are normal that sometimes we tend to care much about the less important things such as wealth , fame and status but forget the more important things such as loyalty , honesty and trust . To gain a firm relationship is no doubt much more difficult than to gain some money or reputation .

All the rest came
They tried to make me laugh
They played their games with me
Some games for fun and some for keeps
And then they went away
Leaving me in the ruins of games
Not knowing which were for keeps and
Which were for fun and
Leaving me alone with the echoes of
Laughter that was not mine.

Then you came
With your funny way of being
Not quite human
And you made me cry
And you didn’t seem to care if I did
You just said the games are over
And waited
Until all my tears turned into
Joy
