The legend of 1900

The movie carried me far away to the broaden sea between Europe and America,. Our hero, 1900, was born there. All through his life, he has never left that ship. He lived in the world for 30 plus years, but in the record, he never existed.
The movie is filled with magic and surprise. One such thing is that he was born with the talent of music. When he first sat before the piano, his fingers danced like butterfly, the melody flowed out, like it was already deeply scripted in his gut. From that day on, he was famous on the ship.
One day, when he was recording his music, he saw a girl, or rather an angel. She was so elegant and clear. Her light blue eyes perfectly matched the color of the sea. Her face, looked from every angle, is unquestionably a piece of god’s work. He was deeply moved. The music turned tender and affectionate. Every note was like a stroke on your hear and a kiss in your mouth. But the girl just walked by……
Days come that the girl would leave the ship, 1900 pushed his way to the girl, talked to her about her father, who was also once on the ship. On departure, the girl kissed him on the cheek. That’s the most beautiful kiss I’ve ever seen. She also invited him to her home, but 1900 knew that he would never make it, for he could not leave the sea.
Things back to normal after that. Except all of a sudden, 1900 decided to land. Along with the camera, I saw him walk down the stairs slowly and hesitantly. Then he stopped, raised his head, and gazed at Manhattan before him. A complex smile occurred on his face, he turn around and went back to the ship. At that moment, my heart was bleeding. Just a couple of steps further, he would stand on the land. A new life is waiting for him, a life of an ordinary man, for whom the sea is only a place to visit, not a place to live.
However, the land is too big a ship for him, he can’t handle it. His life is deadly knotted with the ship. At this time, a tragedy was already indicated obviously.
In the end of the movie, the ship was exploded. He refused to leave the ship and was buried with permanently under the sea.
What we have today is a story about 1900, a legend, a man who came and left with the sea.
One thing bothering me is what the meaning of life is. Could he possibly get away from the ship? Is there alternative for the tragic ending? Why some one makes different choices deliberately?
Maybe we are all destined to be ourselves. And that it is not a problem of fair or not. God is more than fair, the human being or the universe is in coherence as a whole. And the pain is just another form of happiness.
