My Chinese New Year Overseas

How time flies!
I can’t believe that the Chinese New Year has been over! Only two days! It’s too short, compared with the 7-day holiday in China. However, I have a very special and exciting time here, although it’s the first time that I leave home to spend the holiday without my parents.
At the New Year’s Eve, our seniors invited us to their hostel. They cooked a very delicious meal for us: sushi, hot-bowl, potatoes, dumplings, and so on. Eh, yummy, yummy! I can’t forget the wonderful taste at that dinner. After the supper, we played games together and talked to them about the courses we were to choose.
At midnight, because of the big noise that we made when we were cheering, we were ‘thrown out’ by the Uncle there, and then we have to come back to Eton Hall unwillingly. But after all, it’s a very wonderful day, isn’t it?
On the New Year’s Day, we had no activities to take part in, so I chat with my family members online. We have talked for the whole afternoon since there were too much to say.On the second day of the Chinese New Year, we went to the President’s House. We spent a lot of time on the queue. About half an hour later, a stranger told us that students didn’t need to queue up. So we gave up the queue and went to the gates. However, the guards told us that we must queue up whether we were students or not. Suddenly I felt cheated and upset. It means that we must queue up again and wait for another half an hour. So finally, we gave up the visit and went to Chinatown instead. It was not as crowded as what I had expected. It took much time before we found a KTV to sing songs because most of them had been closed. However, we really enjoyed ourselves at the karaoke and sang many songs until dinner time.
All in all, it’s a very wonderful and unforgettable Chinese New Year overseas!
